Our missions

Bastia is the island’s leading port

The port of Bastia accounts for nearly 60% of Corsica’s total maritime traffic, comprising both passengers and freight.

The 4 key tasks

Manage

The Corsican Public Establishment for Trade and Industry has managed the concession for the Port of Bastia since 1920. Since 1 January 2006, the concession has changed from a public infrastructure concession to a public service delegation concession, renewed by the Territorial Collectivity of Corsica (which has had jurisdiction in place of the State since 2005) until 31 December 2004. In this capacity, it coordinates port operations, strategic investment planning and the promotion of the facilities in partnership with all shipping companies and professionals in the transport and island tourism sectors.

To welcome

By improving facilities for passengers and vehicles. To this end, it organises the management of traffic flows for both vehicles and pedestrians.

To this end, it is establishing services, infrastructure and superstructure such as:
maritime terminals, car parks, shaded areas with drinking fountains, a free shuttle bus, an information point, and variable-message signage systems.

To promote the growth of traffic

By meeting the needs of all port operators, and in particular shipping companies.

Preparing for the future

By drawing up a strategic plan and investment programmes based on traffic forecasts and fleet trends; By proposing new developments in the short, medium and long term; By focusing on areas for development: new routes, new traffic streams, and cruises.
